A journey of ice cream, which developed as I composed the collage:
This piece is about my love for ice cream, and the realization that I cannot eat as much ice cream as I used to and WANT to. Actually at the time, I thought I would never be able to enjoy it again. I was doing elimination dieting, and suffering from digestive issues, and had cut out dairy and added sugars.
The digestive issues ended up being Stage 1 colon cancer. I am now cancer free.
BUT I definitely cut back on my ice cream consumption regardless, though thankfully I CAN enjoy it from time to time!

Aesthetically, I love the combination of earthy, clay gray in the background juxtaposed with meticulously cut red, oranges, and pale yellows. They compliment each other so well.

This collage is created on canvas paper that I mounted to 1.5 inch deep edged cradled wood. The edges of the substrate are painted (poppy red) so you do not have to frame the artwork, and I have applied several layers of a UV protective gloss varnish to the sides and surface, to enhance details and for longevity.
