“Night Bloom” - to symbolize our growth during the darkness of night and shadow.
Flowers and butterflies adorn her crown, shielding her eyes from that which she does not need to see with them. Eyes covered - She can FEELeverything more intensely, as she blooms and morphs through the night!
I love the Greek symbolism of the chrysanthemum – to protect against evil spirits! This is the connotation I think of in this creation. Tulips are one of the first flowers to bloom in Spring, signifying a rebirth or renewal! And, of course, the magnificent butterfly is indicative of transformation and a metamorphosis. Marigolds are a connection of life and death – as our Spirit continues to die and be reborn while we transform (through our dark nights of the soul)…

This is a 16x20x1.5” original acrylic and analog collage on cradled wood. The edges of the are finished too, so a frame is not necessary, and I have applied generous coats of UV protective and archival gloss varnish to enhance the details of this beautiful piece, and for longevity.
