I Dream of Pizza - (But it's Not Dion's) - Original Mixed Media Collage - Vintage Food Collage
Size: 11x14x1.5 inches
This gem is from my ongoing series of analog collages featuring vintage images of food. I LOVE PIZZA! I mean, who doesn't? I am a bit of a pizza snob actually, and in Albuquerque New Mexico, a good pie is hard to come by! I HAVE found some by now, having lived here going on 9 years, but the par too the title in parentheses refers to a local chain called Dion's that so many people here love, but I think their pizza is NOT good, and I certainly am not dreaming about it ;)
This retro lady's pizza dream has her sitting primly atop some Italian cheese with a glass of Montepulciano in one hand. She has a large spoon of sauce in the other. She's got a mushroom hat, pizza slice necklace and shades and basil and pepper slices adorn her fun and flirty dress! The background is fun and busy with more pizza ingredients! I used pastel chalk pencil to create little mozzarella balls floating everywhere!
This original artwork measures 11x14x1.5 inches on cradled wood. The edges are painted black so you do not have to frame the artwork. I applied several coats of a UV protective archival and acid free gloss varnish to the surface and the sides to enhance the details and for longevity. The piece is signed, titled, and dated on the back and wired to hang. I think this is a perfect kitchen piece, and certainly a perfect and unique gift for the pizza lover and or snob in your life!
